Hello everyone! Do you have a social media platform? Most Generation Z and Millennial individuals have one. Did you know that you can use your online presence to speak about pressing issues and spread awareness about current events? In 2020, #BlackLivesMatter went viral on social media to shed light on police brutality and racially motivated violence. This hashtag was tweeted about 47.8 million times and was a peaceful movement that aimed to create change and awareness in the community. Many people are conflicted about the integration of social media and digital technologies. Many think that it enhances human connection and awareness of certain issues and others think that it hurts mental health and promotes bad behavior. I would like to address how social media can be used in a positive way. Users have used their platforms to activate for specific causes. Whether it be about Black Lives Matter, violence against Asian Americans, or the fight against climate change, people have utilized online activism to generate new knowledge and wisdom and to inspire others to take action.

In order to successfully address this topic, I will be publishing a blog post about social media and activism. It will be a full report on how people have used these digital technologies in a positive way.
